Student Counselling

Student Counselling

Parenting a student is never easy, but when your student is violent, depressed, abusing alcohol or drugs, or engaging in other reckless behaviours, it can seem overwhelming. Hence, you may feel exhausted from lying awake at night worrying about where your child is, who he or she is with, and what they’re doing. You may despair over failed attempts to communicate, the endless fights, and the open defiance. Or you may live in fear of your child’s violent mood swings and explosive anger.

WHAT IS ANGER MANAGEMENT?

Anger management is training for temper control and is the skill of remaining calm. It describes to deploy anger successfully.

Anger is a normal and healthy emotion, but sometimes it can become overwhelming and turn into an anger management problem. People develop problems with managing their anger for different reasons. Sometimes it is due to their parents having the problem and the child learns the parents’ habits. Other times, it is because the parents don’t teach their children how to express anger, then the child doesn’t have a healthy example of what to do when feelings of anger arise. Problems with managing anger may also surface when an individual is under a great deal of stress and feels that they have to take drastic actions in order to be noticed and get help.

Some of the symptoms of ANGER

Breaking things
Banging doors excessively
Feeling of tingling
Reacting violently or dramatically to minor problems
Lack of Sleep

If you or some you know is unable to manage their anger, please consult with an experienced psychologist.

Healthy Marriages

Healthy-Marriage

It takes work to have a healthy-marriage, but it is possible. As you keep your body well by going to a gym, you can do so to keep your marriage healthy.

First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes decades of time together strewn with a minefield of potential relationship wreckers.

Well, the truth is that even in so-called happy marriages, both partners probably fantasize some of the time—or even much of the time—about throwing in the towel.

Just as you go to the gym regularly to keep your body fit, regular couples counseling can keep your relationship fit as well

If you or someone you know is in an unhealthy marriage, please meet an experienced psychologist at the earliest possible.

Dependency

Dependency

Dependency is a medical condition, despite adverse consequences, where people compulsively engage in the rewarding stimuli.
Despite the involvement of a number of psychosocial factors, a biological process – one which is induced by repeated exposure to an addictive stimulus – is the core pathology that drives the development and maintenance of an addiction.

Firstly, Addiction exacts a high toll on individuals. It affects society as a whole through the direct adverse effects of drugs. It has associated healthcare costs, long-term complications (e.g., lung cancer with smoking tobacco, liver cirrhosis with drinking alcohol).  Classic symptoms of addiction include impaired control over substances or behaviour, preoccupation with substance or behaviour, and continued use despite consequences.

Types of Dependency

Alcohol Dependency
Drugs Dependency
Smoking, and other tobacco items Dependency
Porn Dependency
Social media Dependency
Sex Dependency

There are multiple types of addictions. If you or anyone you know is suffering from an addiction, I recommend that you consult an experienced psychologist at the earliest.

Depression

Dr Prerna Kohli - Psychologist Conselling on DepressionWhat is Depression?

Feeling sad or what we may call “depressed” happens to all of us. The sensation usually passes after a while. However, people with a depressive disorder – clinical depression- find that their state interferes with their daily life.

For people with clinical depression, their normal functioning is undermined to such an extent that both they and those who care about them are affected by it. Depression is not uniform. Signs and symptoms may be experienced by some sufferers and not by others. How severe the symptoms are, and how long they last depend on the individual person and his illness.

There is evidence supporting the idea that exercise can help patients with depression, particularly if they have or are at high risk of developing other conditions such as obesity, cardiovascular disease or diabetes, which can often be the case.

Couple Counselling

COUPLE COUNSELLING

Marriage for a couple is an institution designed to help two individuals coexist in love and mutual harmony. Petty arguments, the difference between opinions and mindsets sometimes appear and cannot be ignored. Hence, with time people change. Thus, their preferences and perceptions vary and the same relationship which started on a happy note of lifelong commitment and joyous sharing can turn into a tumultuous one.

Every couple faces challenges in marriage. Hence, marital tensions grow beyond revival and repair if not addressed and talked about at the right time. Hence, silence is not the answer. In conclusion, people need to open up, acknowledge and talk about their problems.

Discussion and expert guidance can help you understand each other to sort out the differences amicably. Thus, one must seek help to bring the sunshine back in marriages going through a rough and patchy weather.
